Sustainable Tourism Proponent Appointed Minister of Tourism of Costa Rica
With a history of his travel agency supporting sustainable tourism, having achieved an ICT 5 leaves designation for the Certification for Sustainable Tourism, as well as promoting Pack for a Purpose, being a member of the Organization for Tropical Studies, the Neotropica Foundation, and numerous other community social organizations and planting trees, it bodes well for Costa Rica’s sustainable future that Wilhelm von Breymann Barquero was appointed Minister of Tourism in May to server for the next four years.
In a statement to the ICT, Mr. Breymann, stated, “The Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT) has developed a series of strategies and activities that guarantee the quality of the destination in a sustainable manner.”
“We should continue to strengthen these activities with clear policies that support the Sustainable Tourism Development Model. My work and commitment to improve will be with all of you: tourists, entrepreneurs, organizations, friends and with all the collaborators of the Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT), because together, and only together, we can ensure our Costa Rica projects and promotes itself more around the world.”
Truly, Costa Rica has a reputation for being environmentally friendly and conscious, and wishing to advance further in that goal and reputation, it is a good sign that our new Minister of Tourism will be committed to enhancing not only the sustainable image, but also that reality, here and abroad.
